DIGNEY FIGNUS

~ Background Info

Digney Fignus is a Boston based singer/songwriter. His latest CD, "TALK OF THE TOWN," (October 2008), continues the story of Johnnie Boudreaux, "a man too good lookin' for his own good," first introduced in the critically acclaimed "TROUBLE ON THE LEVEE" (2006).

"Sounding like Randy Newman in his heyday, Digney wrangles up 12 new songs that bubble with grooves so infectious, you're going to need a good liniment to work them out" - Doug Sloan, Metronome Magazine

KDHX - St. Louis, MO - Letter from the Line (track 8) "A stunning song about a soldier writing home. The lines in the middle about killing a man in the line of duty are absolutely chilling."

"TALK OF THE TOWN" has spent three months on the Americana Music Chart recently reaching #24. It also scored in the Top 20 on the New Music Weekly College Chart and the Far Roots Report . Radio stations all across the US have been spining tracks from the CD, which is also picking up airplay in Europe, and on a number of stations throughout Australia.

The band is a fan favorite at festivals. The shows are high-energy full throttle fun that feature contagious songs that you'll be singing the next day. Bring your dancing shoes...

Digney arrived on the music scene playing guitar and singing in a three-piece Boston punk band called the SPIKES. Scoring on local radio with songs like "Air Raid" and "Summer Vacation." THE SPIKES performed for underground loft shows that eventually led Digney to run one of the first "Punk" night clubs in Boston, ("Streets" voted Boston's #1 nightclub by the Boston Phoenix). Digney's big break came in when he won the MTV basement tapes with his hit song and video "THE GIRL WITH THE CURIOUS HAND". This led to a follow up release on COLUMBIA RECORDS that Digney co-produced with former CHARTBUSTER and MODERN LOVER, Leroy Radcliffe.

More success came when Digney won the WZLX Boston Anthem contest with his song "BOSTON TOWN". The song is featured on the four-song CD “BOSTON TOWN" which received critical acclaim and was nominated for RECORD OF THE YEAR, by the Mass Country Music Awards Association.
One of the songs from the CD "End of the Line" won one of the SONG OF THE YEAR awards.

Digney returned in 2006 with yet another refreshingly different chapter to his musical career "TROUBLE ON THE LEVEE." The rootsy character based "concept" CD enjoyed 22 weeks on the Americana Roots Rock chart.
